Located in the Strip District, you may at first think that Pittsburgh Winery’s wine won’t be anything special. Their grapes are imported from major wine regions around the world, which typically leads to not-so-fresh or crisp wines. However, their wines break this stereotype and tantalize your taste buds. They have wine tastings, happy hour, and full bottles for purchase—it’s worth visiting.
La Casa Narcisi Winery, 4578 Gibsonia Rd., Gibsonia
Just a short 30-minute drive from Pittsburgh, Gibsonia’s La Casa Narcisi Winery is family-owned and operated—and they have absolutely delicious wines. It’s become quite the staple for everything from rehearsal dinners to sipping on the patio in the summer. The large complex holds a full restaurant, backyard patio, and bar—they even have a small stage for live performances on the weekends. Engine House 25, 337 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh
Not far from Pittsburgh Winery is where you’ll find this refreshing, unique wine tasting room. The historic building is a wine cellar, a commercial photography studio, and a museum. If you’ve been dying for some culture, then plan an outing to Engine House 25. Opt for an intimate gathering at their wine cellar for a tasting, or enjoy a sweet happy hour with a bottle of wine and a cheese plate from Wheel & Wedge. Only a short drive away from downtown Pittsburgh, Black Dog Wine Company has quite a few different locations, but they all offer award-winning wines. They have some scrumptious Riesling and blush wines, but they also have some fun choices too, such as their Trophy Wife light-bodied wine that’s won four different awards.
Bella Terra Winery, 121 Sunny Ln., Hunker
The last winery on our list of favorites is the beautiful Bella Terra Winery. The 17 acres include both a lake and the vineyard, and they allow pets and offer live entertainment every weekend. Head here with the family to enjoy time outdoors with some of the best wine in the area. Try out their Sparkling Diamond bubbly for any celebration, or opt for one of their ciders if you’re not in the mood for wines—either way, you’ll surely have a great time!
