“Make your best Sunday sauce and fry some Italian sausages to put in with your meatballs.” —Bob

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 28 oz cans of Nina San Marzano tomatoes with Basil
  • 1 large onion chopped sauteed in olive oil
  • 5-6 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 small can tomato paste
  • Flat leaf parsley
  • 2 tbsp. Aroma Piccante 
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Romano Cheese
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Directions

1. Fry meatballs and sausages and cook in sauce about 3 hours.

2. Take sausages out and slice in 1/4 inch pieces and return to sauce.

Remaining Ingredients

  • 1 pound ricotta drained
  • 1 egg
  • Romano cheese
  • Nutmeg
  • Flat leaf parsley
  • salt and pepper to taste.
  • 1 lb Ziti al dente ( no more than 7 minutes) drain

1. Grease casserole dish

2. Mix half the sauce with pasta and pour half pasta in casserole.

3. Spread ricotta over pasta. Pour rest of pasta over the ricotta

4. Finish with the rest of sauce on top

5. Cover and bake 350 degrees for about 25 minutes

6. Uncover and put 1/2 lb Mozzarella over top and return to oven for 10 more minutes

7. Take out and let it rest for a few minutes and serve with a good salad and crusty Italian bread!
