From using CBD oil to help with the agony of wearing high heeled shoes for long hours, to anxiety, skincare, and so many other reasons, Celebrities are getting on the CBD bandwagon. Whatever the reason, Hollywood is obsessed with CBD, gaining it some free publicity.
Celebrities are not using CBD to get high, that is because this supplement offers many benefits of the cannabis plant, but without the psychoactive buzz that comes with marijuana. The cannabis plant has two main compounds that affect our bodies, CBD and THC.
Our bodies recognize cannabis through a pathway called the endocannabinoid system. CB1 and CB2 are the main receptor cells within this system that react to different parts of the cannabis plant. CBD and THC compounds that belong to a set of more than 100 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant; and these compounds react differently to these receptors.
THC or tetrahydrocannabinol attaches itself onto CB1 receptors, which are primarily located in the areas of the brain that handle memory, pleasure, coordination, thinking and our sense of time. THC is responsible for the psychoactive feeling of elevation or ‘high’ when consuming cannabis.
CBD or cannabinol, on the other hand, attaches itself to CB2 cells, and these receptors handle our immune system, inflammation, nerves, and other peripheral functions. This is why CBD is useful for pain, inflammation, skincare, and anxiety. CBD also has a real medical application, as in the case of the epilepsy drug, Epidiolex.
CBD is extracted from the flowers and leaves of hemp and marijuana plants. Hemp and marijuana are not the same but do belong to the cannabis species of plants. Most CBD oil softgels on the market today is from the hemp plant.
CBD oil from the hemp plant is legal in all 50 U.S. states. This is because of the 2018 Farm Bill, which covers CBD derived from the hemp, not marijuana plant. Also, the CBD oil must contain 0.3% or less of THC, to be considered legal.
Below is a list of more than 10 celebrities that use CBD oil:
Jennifer Aniston
Celebrities have hectic, busy lives which means tight schedules, late nights and putting up a social front. Coping with anxiety is probably one of the biggest issues many celebrities report having to deal with, and they are using CBD for some much-needed relief. “CBD helps with pain, stress, and anxiety. It has all the benefits of marijuana without the high,” Jennifer Aniston told Us Magazine.
Busy Phillips
Busy Phillips also uses CBD to control stress and posted in an Instagram story that she was using CBD gummies and chocolates to cope with being unsettled after her flight was delayed. “My plane is delayed an hour but I took [a CBD product], so it’s OK,” Philipps wrote.
According to CBD Kryo, Cannabidiol reacts with the body’s neuroreceptors, and so has the potential to alleviate stress and anxiety. Studies have shown that CBD has anti-stress and antidepressant qualities. “These studies also found that the CBD compound worked without activating the brain’s endocannabinoid receptors directly, which promisingly indicates there is less risk of CBD becoming addictive.”
Mandy Moore
Because CBD interacts with CB2 receptor cells that handle our nerves and inflammation systems, it is proving to be an arsenal in the battle for pain management. While NSAIDs work as well, CBD oil proponents believe that it is a natural pain reliever that will not interfere with liver health or medication sensitivities.
CBD infused in creams, balms, and oils are popular with celebrities, many of whom are using it for the foot pain associated with wearing high heeled shoes. But this product helped me off of them in 10 days. I never looked back.”
CBD oil users have reported using it primarily for pain, from arthritis to muscle spasms. For CBD to affect pain, getting the right dose is critical. “It is thought that lower doses of CBD oil are most effective for pain patients, with professionals recommending you don’t exceed a dosage of 5-10 mg per day when using CBD for this purpose,” according to Cool Things Chicago.
