A Year in Review

Nicky D CooksBy Nicky D Cooks

This October is a special month for me. So many great things are celebrated during this month, it honestly is one my favorite months of the year.

First of all it is Italian Heritage Month. This is a gentle reminder of who I am, where my roots are and what I am all about. Without my strong family ties and identity, I would not be the person that I am today.

With that being said, there is another reason for me to celebrate. This October is also my anniversary; my blogging and business anniversary.

One year ago I began to blog for Ciao Pittsburgh and around the same time, I launched my own company Nicky D Cooks Authentic Italian Cookies Handcrafted Italian Biscotti and Pizzelle.

To say that it has been a banner year, well that would be an understatement! It has been a wonderful year filled with so much excitement and joy, it would be hard to describe it in a single word other than amazing.

I wanted to do something special to celebrate my anniversary.  So I decided to do two things—launch a new website and have a prize giveaway on Ciao Pittsburgh.

My new website, Nicky D Cooks, has a new look to it and I also have several new features on it. Check it out at www.nickydcooks.com.

Readers can follow me on twitter @nickydcooks https://twitter.com/nickydcooks or on my Facebook page.

On my new website, l will be posting my special recipe of the month that is a personal favorite of mine I will share with my readers. In addition, I will continue to write about my adventures in this culinary world of mine; including recipes, tips, foodie products/finds and restaurants.

Of course, I will continue to write for Ciao Pittsburgh and I will have my monthly blogs about my crazy Italian –American family, life and gastronomical undertakings.

As part of my blogging anniversary celebration, I am giving away a prize, $20 gift card to The Pennsylvania Macaroni Company as well as a bottle of my favorite seasoning AROMA. See the Ciao Pittsburgh Facebook page on how to enter!

I hope that this next year will be as wonderful as the last one. Here is to another good year, Buona Salute!

I would like to thank a few people who have helped me along my way. First and foremost my family. Without their love and support, none of this could have happened. My husband, you are the most patient man ever. Thank you for all that you do, I love you. My beautiful daughter, figila mia and my handsome son, bel ragazzo. You both are the reason I do what I do, ti amo!!!

Thank you to my parents and big brother for being there with phone calls and long distance support. My in-laws, and the sibling in-laws, you guys are amazing. Always there with support and words of encouragement.

To all of my foodie friends, there are so many of you out there who inspire me daily. Thank you for your all that you do. Best Foodie Friend (BFF), thank you so much for helping me eat my way through the Pittsburgh, you are an amazing friend!

I need to thank my friends at the Food Shoppe in Pittsburgh for helping me make my dream a reality.

Lastly I would like to thank Ciao Pittsburgh. Over the last year, these guys have been amazing. They have given me the freedom to write what I want and the support to do it. As a blogger, I could not ask for anything more. Grazie Mille!
